The District HipstaPak

By on July 4, 2014

Every first Friday of the month means a new pak, and the first Friday of July happens to fall on the 4th: Independence Day for U.S. citizens. Hipstamatic has therefore chosen to honour two of its former presidents, namely Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. So, let’s celebrate this 4th of July with the District HipstaPak!

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the U.S. and was elected twice, but didn’t make it through his second term in office, as he was assassinated in a theatre by John Wilkes Booth barely two months after being re-elected. Lincoln was the main political power, or face, behind the Thirteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which permanently abolished slavery. The new lens is named after him and is meant to embody the colourful nuances of a "lucky penny," which Lincoln's profile has made famous, illuminating the subject with a warm orange tint in the mid tones while highlighting the glints of blues shadows are likely to produce.

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was the 26th president of the U.S. and also the youngest in the history of the country (1901-1909). He negotiated an end to the Russo-Japanese war, for which he received a Nobel Peace Prize. The new film, T. Roosevelt 26, apparently pays homage to him: scrappy (see the subtle grit in hues) yet sophisticated (see the absence of a border, as well as the smudging and blurring we've seen with the more recent paks).

There’s no change to the purchasing process: Oggl-users get the new pak for free and it’s available for 0,99 $ (0,89 euros) for those who prefer Hipstamatic. No change here either… I wait patiently for your first impressions. Happy 4th of July, States-wide and beyond!
