I have an innate need to document the world around me either through photography, writing or oral recounting. With it's accessibility, the iPhone released my inner photographer and the abundance of photographic applications have revealed a new world of challenges and opportunities. I currently live in Paris where my partner and I act as flaneurs documenting the city we love.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>ngg_shortcode_1_placeholderFrom May 24-26, 2013 the Facebook group <strong>Hipstamatic Sardinia<\/strong> held a meet-up in Barcelona, Spain. Twenty members from Austria, France, the Netherlands, Italy (Sardinia), Spain, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S. gathered to meet, greet and visit some of the city's popular attractions such as Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, Park G\u00fcell also designed by Gaudi, the Boqueria, which is a huge covered food market, the Barceloneta beach and Montjuic where the Olympic stadium is located.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>At times it was amusing to see the entire group moving en masse to aim our iphones and capture nearly the same images. We exchanged tips and tricks regarding the iphone, Hipstamatic combos and various other photography applications including <strong>Oggl<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Was reminded once again, don't be fooled by pictures because the rental apartment was not at all what it was presented to be. The organizational aspect of the meet-up was often a little too spur-of-the-moment for my taste but improvisation can also be a good thing.\u00a0<\/em><em>Perhaps the ultimate irony was traveling to a meeting based on an internet group and being unable to easily access the web or in my case being locked out of my Facebook account. I was in a new location and FB didn't 'recognize' the same iPhone I always use. I needed to go to 'the computer you normally use and sign in'. That computer was in Paris!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>In the end, none of the glitches matter. For me the trip to Barcelona was a huge success in that I got to visit a new city and country, meet, spend time and forge new relationships with people i 'knew' only from the virtual world. I have memories of laughter, conversation, camaraderie and the real prospect of new, lasting friendships.
