Chernukha is a village located about 100 km from Nizhny Novgorod, near Arzamas. It was very, very cold (about -20C) which isn't unusual for that time of year. January 19th is the orthodox holiday of the Lord's Epiphany and, for some reason, it's always absolutely freezing on that day.
