\"Taking pictures in India is easy to do. Everywhere you look something or the other seems to be crying out 'Here! Take this'. Colours, faces, Gods, ancient buildings and 'the exotic' are in your face at every step. But to take a good picture in India is hard to do. Precisely because there is so much to capture; and it has been captured in countless books, magazines and films for decades. As someone who grew up in India I have taken masses of your 'standard' pictures. But it was only when I had my Hipstamatic<\/strong> in my hip pocket on several recent trips that I have began to finally break free of the 'coffee table book' vision of this great country, and see a different India.
\nThis portfolio was shot in Varanasi, Delhi and Mumbai in 2012 and 2014. The problem with b\u00a0is determining which combo to use, because so many work so well in India. I experiment regularly with them but find myself drawn to the darker and more deeply saturated tones of those like the Brighton<\/strong> combo or the washed out feel of the Libatique<\/strong> lens. But to be honest, India is a place where almost any lens and any film reveals something special. \"<\/em>
