\"The best camera is the one you've always got with you... I discovered Hipstamatic<\/strong> in 2012 when in SE Asia with my first iPhone (4!). I travelled with a large DSLR, but finally decided to leave it in my suitcase and took over 500 pictures with the iPhone, using Hipstamatic<\/strong> for the first time. I liked the randomness of the results and the expressiveness you get, due to the very limitations of having to focus on composition, without being certain of the frame, the light and the effect. At that time, I mostly used John S<\/strong> with Blanko<\/strong> or Claunch Monochrome<\/strong>, for their picturesque power.
\nNowadays, I'm more inclined to use neutral effects, although I\u2019m still fond of the square frame, the vignette and uneven exposure you get with Hipstamatic<\/strong>, compared to the native camera on the iPhone. Being able to activate the shutter by removing the finger from the button, rather than pushing on it, is definitely an asset for me.
\nFor this biennale series, I mostly used Hannah\/Ina 1935<\/strong>; the soft oversharpening and overexposure is perfect for portraits and still lives. Again, I took a \"real\" camera (Fuji X100s) with me but, despite it being a really nice camera, it remains easier and more immediate to use an iPhone for instant captures. The quality of the iPhone 5\/6\/6s means that we are at the same level as a photographer using a Leica III, with the same limitations regarding light, angle (fixed 35mm) and composition\"<\/em>
