We have now arrived at one of the most exciting steps in the Hipstography Awards: the nominees. These Awards have been divided into two main categories: the \"Grand Prizes Awards\" for the Combos and Portfolios and the \"Major Prizes Awards\" for the Photos of the Day. This list is a summary of the jury\u2019s results after diligently going through hundreds of pictures and series.<\/h4>\n

Concerning the jury\u2019s votes, we stuck to the same principle as in previous years: We have gone through the hundreds of series and photos published on the site in 2016 or received during the submissions in the thirty or so categories; for each category, we asked each jury member to give us their top 3. Three points were awarded for their favorite series or photo, two points for their second choice and, lastly, one point for their third favorite. All the points were then added up, and we whittled it down to just 5 or 6 series for the 10 \"Grand Prizes Awards<\/strong>\" categories and ten or so photos for the 17 \"Major Prizes Awards<\/strong>\"\u00a0categories.<\/p>\n

As is the case every year, this list will make a few people very happy, but will inevitably also cause some disappointment; the jury has been quite strict this time around as many of them are participating in this endeavor for the fourth year running. Their expectations were high this time around. Once again, certain series immediately stood out as being extraordinary, and for others the votes were subtler.<\/p>\n

It is now up to you to give your opinion; your votes will be added to those of the jury to select the overall winners of this 2016 edition of the Hipstography Awards<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Over the following days, the nominees in each category will be gradually announced on this page, and the voting will commence. You can bookmark this page, which will be updated on a daily basis; this same page is also accessible via the banner at the top of each page on the site. One small clarification: the order of nominees is not linked to the jury's votes. The combos are classified in order of publication, and the portfolios and the photos will at times be published at random.<\/p>\n

You have three days to vote for each category, and your votes will be added to the jury's. One last category, \"The Gear of the Year<\/strong>\", is intended to give Awards for the different gear (lenses, films and flashes) from the Hipstamatic<\/strong> catalogue that came out in 2016. The winners will receive their prizes at the official prize-giving Grand Ceremony<\/strong> on Saturday 4 February.<\/p>\n
