At the centre of the arch is a bronze figure representing Victory, her arms stretched out towards the heavens.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Open to the sea, visible from far away, this figure of Victory also symbolises the wealth born of cultural exchanges and Marseille's history of welcoming myriads of people of such varied origins who have passed through or settled over the centuries.
