Combo #201 (Stavros Dimakopoulos)

Lens:  Adler 9009
Film:  Blanko 1
Flash:  Cadet Blue Gel

"The linear waterfront of Thessaloniki, the most important public space of the city, offered the ideal scenography for playing with this combo. Under these specific weather conditions, this combo made everything look like snapshots from a dream. Adler 9009 offers a very soft focus, while the Blanko 1 film, with its very stylized texture, creates a 'distance' between the observer and the objects of the image. The Cadet Blue Gel flash enhances the blue tones, especially these of the water in the foreground. It is interesting to see how the slightly foggy sky creates the feeling of an impressionist painting. The horizon is almost always barely distinct, turning the sea and the sky into a unified, mystical background. The result, in most cases, is somehow hypnotic; there is nothing extremely vibrant and everything, even the intense warm orange and red colors of the sunset, filtered through this combo look soft, in cool pastel tones.  The most significant for me was that the overall essence of the subject was captured, rather than its specific details.
Stavros Dimakopoulos

Combo #211 (Florian Bilges)

Lens:  Melodie
Film:  Robusta
Using:  Oggl

"Melodie/Robusta is one of my favorite combos for still lifes. I love the structure of Robusta, which works so very well with simple backgrounds. Melodie  gives the image a bright character and a friendly touch of green."
Florian Bilges

Combo #213 (Jozef Hipp)

Lens:  Susie
Film:  Uchitel 20
Using:  Oggl

"I was never a big fan of Susie, not with color combos nor with black and white films. Then the Uchitel 20 film arrived and I have tried it with Susie. The pictures were stunning to me and, at that time, I was looking exactly for that type of imagery. These minimal images look soft, almost fragile and feature the beautiful paper texture of the Uchitel 20 film. It is almost as if they were sketched with a pencil. Susie's overexposure brings an atmosphere of mystery. I never thought I could like Susie and Hipstamatic proved me wrong."
Jozef Hipp

Combo #215 (Tuba Korhan)

Lens:  Salvador 84
Film:  Uchitel 20
Flash: off

"In this series, entitled ‘A Digital Approach to Rorschach (inkblot)' I have tried to interpret the Rorschach (inkblot) test. To achieve my results, I used the Salvador 84 lens, which unveiled a new dimension to these seemingly mundane objects. I found that the Uchitel 20 film emphasises the surreal feeling and also the random spots on the frame perfectly complement the Rorschachian idea of behind the series."
Tuba Korhan

Combo #274 (Dror Blumberg)

Lens:  Yoona
Film:  Blanko 1
Flash:  Laser Lemon Gel

"Part of my soul belongs to the sea. Last year I took many photographs of the sea, and this year I made another attempt, using the Colaba HipstaPak. My aim was to produce something that reminded me of my favourite painter, Turner. I explored the sea in different lighting conditions and am quite fascinated by the results. I hope you enjoy them too."
Dror Blumberg

Combo #288 (Sabine Gromek)

Lens:  Salvador 84
Film:  GS-0
Using:  Oggl

"I like the fact that the GS-0 film is very different from all the other Hipstamatic films. Combined with Salvador 84 the result is always surprising and different, and challenges you to creative interpretations."
Sabine Gromek
