"I always had a hard time photographing with Lucas AB2, because I felt like my photos would always look overexposed. But when I paired it with Blanko C16, I fell in love with the wonderful creamy vintage pink and brown [almost] monotone, with just the right balance of glow and definition. This combo has been a favorite ever since, especially with flowers and landscapes on a rainy day."

"The new 'Brussels HipstaPak', in honor of Eric Rozen, has me quite captivated and I enjoy the challenge of finding how to use the combo to highlight it’s unique and beautiful features. I love the retro feel of the lens/filter combo and enjoyed using it most recently in California and also at home in Seattle (both in the city and in nature) to help emphasize the look of an era long past. The blues (especially in the sky) can have a gradient quality from turquoise to dark blue, and brighter colors can pop beautifully against more neutral backgrounds. Shades of white can take on a very crisp appearance, and the ocean can appear as a beautiful steely blue-green - very dramatic! Congratulations Eric, for your special HipstaPak - it’s a beauty!"

"I always look forward to April as it represents to me a time of new beginnings and also opportunities to visit favorite spring destinations for photography. This series was taken in California as well as Washington State. The ocean shoreline north of Santa Cruz is one of the most scenic areas along the Pacific Coast - perpetually swept by the surf and often strong winds. After a rainy morning closer to home, the field workers were pruning the tulips in the Skagit Valley.
Lastly, Seattle is renowned for it’s rain, and I was happy to wander the streets of the city in search of umbrellas, reflections, and steamy cafe windows. I love the warm tones of the Ray Mark ll Lens and the painterly, textured effect of the Blanko 1 Film."

"I recently spent a few weeks in Rishikesh, India. I always try to pick a new pack when I am traveling to a new place, a combo that enhances the environment and communicates something that I feel when I’m there. I love using the Tinto lens combined with the Robusta film. The colors are bright, strong and vivid, but the depth of field and focal point are minimized. There is usually so much going on in India, everywhere you look, that I like having this pinpoint of focus and concentration. The slightly rougher border with the grey tones brings a little bit of India’s grunge to the image. I hope you enjoy this combo and these images from Rishikesh. The river that you see is the Ganges."

"The pictures were taken on the beautiful island of Santorini, Greece. It was my first visit there, and I was totally impressed by the beauty of the place. The two little towns of Oia and Thira, where the famous white and blue buildings we all know so well from postcards are located, are breathtaking. I tried to find a combo that catches the cristal clear atmosphere of the place. G2 was perfect to show the contrats between the deep blue sky/sea and the shiny white buildings. Daydream added some artificial haze in the sky."

"I recently went on a road trip with my friend Kam Goodman, @kamvas. This is one of his photo combinations and I thought I would give it a try. I’m always excited to have a new Hipstamatic combo to play with. When I am introduced to a new film and lens, I try to stick with it for awhile. I used it almost exclusively over the course of a foggy day period in Victoria. There are images on the ferry ride from Victoria, B.C. to Vancouver: the majority of these images were taken during a hike near China Beach, on the Western coast of Victoria Island. The weather was perfect for a fall forest walk down to the beach. The skies were grey and the fog was rolling in and out, and this always makes for such beautiful images on back roads and forest trails. Just what we were looking for. I love the warmth and the little bit of added contrast, it really enhanced that fall feeling that I was so enjoying. With the flat lighting this pack worked well with the trees, the water, and a few portraits. I think it would be trickier to use on a sunny day, highlights would get blown out pretty easily. This trip was followed by a trip to Tokyo, and I found the combo to work equally well on the streets, in low light conditions. Hope you enjoy the walk in the woods."
