Combo #144 (Joaquin Montalvan)

By on July 7, 2013
Lens:  Americana
Film:  Robusta
Flash: off

"The Americana lens is smooth, and clean, with a touch of the dreamy like the hull of a 1950's Airstream, while the Robusta film adds a touch of dirt and grit like you might get on your car after a long road trip. This is a classic and classy combo that is great for still life work, landscapes, and even portraits,... anything that wants to have a nostalgic look.

I usually prefer more stylized color, texture, and scuffing around the edges of the frame, but I discovered this combo while playing around with the new Sao Paolo HipstaPak, and have fallen in love with it. It's a nice, clean break from some of the more exotic combos I have saved in my favorites, and is perfect when I have that rare desire for a more naturalistic image."

I love the pinks and creams this combo picks up. Have not seen anything like it.

I took some shots with this combo today. Breathtaking. My new favorite when using hipstamatic. I feel like this is what “Sao Paulo” should have looked like, or at least southern Spain. In any case, it is my favorite hue and palette of any combo I’ve seen.
