"Every year, during the last weekend in April, an event known as the 'Cowboy Festival' is held at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA. Melody Ranch is a working movie studio most notably used in the HBO series, "DeadwooD". The event attracts thousands of visitors each year, most of whom will dress in period attire, which has the effect of transporting you back in time.

While there are elements that are not period correct, I tend to edit them out in my head as I walk through the town/set. However, the moment you set up to take a photograph those elements will jump out in your face and impose the need to reframe in order remove them from the shot. You don't want to be visually taken out of that time period by anything in the frame. Hopefully, these photos capture a little bit of an authentic Western flavor."
