"Although I took many pure 'nature' shots on this trip to a Thai island, I'm always especially interested in traces of human life. The wildness of the setting makes the effects of people on the wild all the more interesting and, perhaps, even surreal. Sometimes this surreality comes from how much the 'ugliness' of technology blends into the jungle's, or ocean's, wildness. The idea of "blending" is a good segue into discussing this combo. Monochromes tend to do that and Claunch 72 Monochrome is no exception, even as Watts brings hot contrast in light. The overall effect is to accentuate the extreme textures, heat and wildness of this jungle island and to blend together the human and natural into one seething mass."
