"My past and their future"

"My childhood happened somewhere between "Plattenbauten" and the coastal region. I grew up in Eastern Berlin and, every single year, we went up north to the Baltic Sea, to visit relatives. Everyone needs the sea. But the sea needs no one. I romanticize the villages at the Baltic Sea and it’s only now - when taking a closer look from the angle of a photographer - that I realize it’s actual tristesse. Still, the sound of crashing waves is the only noise that doesn’t bother me at all. Now, that I have a family of my own, I still go every single year, and I realize that I’m growing old. The sea is a substantial part of my childhood memories and it will become part of my children too."
