"I first heard of the Alhambra through Washington Irving’s book, “Tales of the Alhambra”, which I read as a twelve year old. I was immediately captivated and the vivid descriptions and stories always attracted me. This past December, my husband and I spent time in Spain and finally, I was able to go there. The weather was cool and there were overcast skies and the day called for a quiet, black and white combo. Because it was December, there were not many visitors. We started off in the gardens that were wonderful despite it being winter, and then walked to the place. Looking at the simple exterior, there were no clues that we were about to enter a place that would transport us to another, much older, world and culture. It is private and was designed to celebrate expressions of God through the intricate architecture and the elegant carvings. I was transported and it was worth the wait.
The day called for a quiet, black and white combo. When I tried the John S, D-Type Plate and Jolly Rainbo, it fit. It’s somewhat somber but, I love the way the incredible carvings are revealed."
