Film: D-Type Plate
Flash: off

"I have several favorite combos but one of my current favorites is Tinto 1884 and the D-Type Plate with no flash. This combo is wonderful for portraits but I have found that it works for certain other subjects as well. When I was growing up I was endlessly fascinated by the tintype portraits that my parents and grandparents had on display. They possessed a quality that is hard to describe; they were like little windows into the past. They were a connection to a time before I was born, to people I only knew as old and to people I never knew, but knew of. I suppose that is true of all methods of photography but the tintypes are somehow special. This Hipstamatic combo captures just a little of that feeling."
