"When I was a kid I fell in love with pictures in a book about London. It was mostly grainy black and white street photography: students doing sit-ins, people shopping and so on. Then I forgot about it, mainly because I didn’t know you could buy black and white film.
Many, many years later, I tried out Hipstamatic and the pictures taken with John S and BlacKeys Supergrain (Aristotle was yet to come) looked exactly like the pictures in that book. There was only one problem: there were no sit-ins in the town where I lived, and people hated being photographed. Finally I moved to Torino, and now I can try to emulate the pictures I loved so much, with John S and Aristotle adding drama, depth and meaning to my skewed shots."
