"I recently visited the Sacré-Cœur in Paris, and was uplifted by the joyful atmosphere of the young people sitting on the steps outside, and singing together to a live group playing there. This was very non traditional for a Catholic church, where silence and restraint is more the norm. On my way out, there was this beautiful view of Montmartre and Paris, and a decidedly positive energy of the visitors walking out into that light. I felt intense hope and love for humankind in that moment...
This was taken one week before the Charlie Hebdo magazine attack, and every time I look at this shot, I lament the terrible tragedy even more poignantly..."
