"This photo was taken in Winters, California. I was visiting with family the weekend after my grandfather passed. My grandfather was a huge influence on my life, and supported me so many times when I had no one to turn to. I was feeling lost and unsure of what would come next, and when the street I needed to turn on came up, I drove past it, hoping my car would take me to some beauty or meaning in all this loss. A few blocks later the street came to an abrupt end, marked by a bent and tattered sign, but just beyond this end sign I found myself staring into a field of bright, wild flowers under a sky of thick clouds. Feeling calm and surrounded by beauty, I got out of my car to snap this photo."
