"The Tumwater Canyon highway is a spectacular scenic drive that crosses over the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. It was late in the afternoon and the autumn sun was close to setting behind the high peaks that border this canyon. We had to do a u-turn to return to this pullover spot beside the river where the leaves were glowing golden. We scrambled down an embankment past an old abandoned cabin to this place by the river. Within a few minutes of taking this photo, the sun had sunk behind the mountains so that the tree in the left foreground was no longer alight. I was reminded of the significance and specialness of capturing moments in time via photography and that what we see at any given time is forever changing - that 'the only thing that is constant is change'."
