"Alter Ego – The Medium is the Message" (Roma Termini, Italy)

"Hipstamatic often surprises us with unexpected results. And sometimes I feel inspired to reproduce them. But this time it was the medium – the camera lens – itself that showed me the way. It was the eye of my phone which revealed to me something I hadn't seen with my own eyes. While waiting for my train at Roma Termini railway station I walked around looking for some promising motifs to shoot and I felt attracted by lots of orange light coming from a passage. I wanted to try the Libatique lens with it and – quite aimlessly – shot some pictures which I found nice but boring. And it was only on these pictures that I discovered this very special mirror effect. So I looked for a better position and from that moment on I knew what I was looking and waiting for. A famous statement by Susan Sontag came to my mind, namely: 'The medium is the message.' And the act of creating is a very interesting thing. "
