"Shoes are the clothes that envelop our feet. They insulate us from the cold ground but they also protect, support, and reveal part of who we are. Hiking boots are true 4X4’s for our feet, sneakers are light and lithe allowing us to partake in demanding physical exploits, slippers are made for cocooning and relaxation, dress shoes should be durable and comfy, Wellingtons are most suited to outdoor activities like mushroom collecting, and of course, there is the pump, symbol of femininity, showing the “neck" of the foot… the ultimate erotic accessory…
As a second skin, shoes bare witness to our lives and our personalities, but they also betray our social status through the wear-and-tear, shapes and materials, the cults they belong to… "
