Composition Tips with Award Winning Photographer Steve McCurry
We owe this wonderful video to The Cooperative of Photography, as it highlights the work of the famed photojournalist Steve McCurry, who gives us a few useful hints and tips about photo composition.
Steve McCurry traveled the world researching what he calls "the unexpected, the timing of random control, which allows the discovery of interesting things by accident". Steve is best known for his evocative color photography in the documentary tradition. He is the author of the portrait of a young Afghan refugee in Pakistan, better known as "Afghan Girl" and whose real name is Sharbat Gula. The photograph made the cover of National Geographic in June 1985.
So, here are a few very helpful suggestions to make your photography even better, or as Steve McCurry says: "Remember, the composition is important, but the rules are also meant to be broken. The main point is to enjoy yourself while you’re photographing and photograph in your own way and your own style".
