Hipstawalk 2014

Excellent news my fellow hipstographers! The Hipstamatic team has just announced the 2014 Global Hipstawalk! #hipstawalk

On Saturday, May 10th, the Hipstamatic community is calling upon all hipstographers to get together in their respective cities and partake in a "hipstawalk", in which walkers will be able to shoot together, discuss ideas, showcase their cities or towns, and, most importantly, have fun participating with the app we all have grown to love - Hipstamatic!

For those of you lucky enough to be in or near San Francisco on May 10th, members of the Hipstamatic team will meet at 1 p.m. in Dolores Park (20th and Church) to begin the San Francisco #hipstawalk. An after party at the Haus is planned as well! Sounds hiptastic! More info about the SF Hisptawalk here:

But not to worry - this is a GLOBAL EVENT and will not only take place in San Francisco! Check out meetup.com/hipstamatic for your city's #hipstawalk or to organize your own at meetup.com/hipstamatic!

It's easy, just follow these instructions: 
• Set a time limit (1-2 hours is ideal).
• Pick a meeting place. Have your route planned so no one gets lost. As long as the participants know where to meet at the end of the walk, they can venture off in search of great shots.
• Gather and share. End the walk in a public space to critique and discuss. This teaches others useful techniques and broadens shooting skills. Bars or cafes provide a great place to get social.

For example, I am organizing a Hipstawalk in Brussels and all hipstographers who happen to be in the European capital on Saturday, May 10th, are more than welcome to join. The meeting place is on the Grand Place at 16.00.

A great initiative from the Hipstamatic team, and I, for one, am really curious as to how many hipstawalks will be taking place on Saturday, May 10th. Regardless, I will of course be publishing reports about every one of them; there is already a new section on Hipstography dedicated solely to the Hipstawalks (see the  "Hipstawalk" section).  If you organize a meetup send me the information and I can post the information before the date so that others will be aware of it.

Everyone should plan on including the hashtag #hipstawalk with their photos and sharing their photos throughout the walk across any and all of the social media platforms, e.g. Facebook, Oggl, Instagram, EyeEm, Flickr, and so on.

I have created the hipstawalks section to show case the best images from hipstawalks around the world. If you want your hipstawalks shots to be included then don't forget to add the #hipstography hash tag to your best pics.

While the kick-off to this event is May 10th, the idea behind Hipstawalk is that hipstrographers from around the world will continue to create and host their own walks whenever they desire! So, you can expect the Hipstawalk section of the site to be updated regularly.
