"I am an Australian based fine art photographer who specializes in documentary, street and conceptual portrait work. Using a combination of mobile Hipstamatic, digital rangefinder and medium format film I am currently shooting three diverse photographic projects within the Sydney area. My mobile Hipstamatic images are usually shot on the run through the city, suburbs or within the urban landscape. When shooting with my iPhone I like to see an image, quickly compose and then grab it, focusing primarily on the interplay between subject, scene and light."

"I'm a mobile street photographer. My fascination with photography dates back to my childhood when my father gave me an old broken 110 camera to play with. I began my photography career with a Zenit 312m camera and Ilford PAN 100 black and white film. Although I've been taking photos almost all of my life, I was recognized as a photographer after I started to share my mobile street photos on photography networks like Instagram, Filckr and EyeEm. Hipstamatic has revived the sweet memories of analog photography for me, so now I shoot exclusively with Hipstamatic.'"

"I borrowed the name of this portfolio from 'Muse' one of my favorite rock music bands. In fact these are a few of my old Hipstamatic Classic shots which had never found the chance to be shared anywhere else! Although the freedom which Hipstamatic Oggl brought to the table is welcome, I think the unique experience of Hipstamatic Classic is more close to the essence of photography and now more than ever I have the tendency to come back to it."

"I had gone from film to digital, back to film and then to digital again. B&W photography has always held a sweet spot for my images. Kind of the casual photographer more interested on doing urban / street photography than anything else (architectural as well). But I dabbled quite a bit with abstract and layering / double exposure in recent months. I tend to be just a bit on the weird-photos side of the spectrum."

"Historic, diverse, resilient, creative, claustrophobic, buzzing, crazy, tired, exciting, dirty, isolated, cold, vibrant, expensive, multicultural, class-divided, are all words that can describe the city I call my home.
The title for this set is taken from a 1961 quote by William Samson and sums up perfectly what I feel about London; a city that never fails to amaze or surprise me. A city that is more about its people than its monuments."

"I enjoy using Hipstamatic because it is such an easy and fun way to capture the unexpected and candid moments of daily life. A lot of my mobile street photography has been shot in black and white with Hipstamatic. The simplicity of this app allows me to focus on lighting and composition while also shooting in a way that is spontaneous and up-close."

Hipstamatic has been the most convenient and effective tool for me to capture the momentary and fleeting images which surround me as I travel around the world."

"I did not choose to become a street photographer; street photography chose me. Born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, I moved to the US when I was 17. I developed an interest in photography ever since I took classes in college but the responsibilities of running a home and my own business kept me from pursuing it further. I rediscovered my passion two years ago when I was invited to attend a photowalk in Soho, NYC. I was astonished by what I had captured with my iPhone. Thus began my journey of documenting vibrant street scenes.
Because I work a lot, I tend to take pictures in the subway while going to and from work. Otherwise, I shoot with friends while participating in photo-walks. I capture candid moments by taking 10 to 15 shots of my subjects and pick the ones that really speak to me. I consider myself a stealth photographer because I like to pretend that I am either lost or looking for something I dropped on the ground in order to capture that perfect moment. Another secret? I carry a snack in the same hand as my iPhone in order to hide the device! The only time I ask for permission is when I shoot shoes, legs or dogs just because I have to get down on my knees and don't want to look creepy. People always respond positively because I compliment them or tell them that I am a photographer so they let me take all the shots that I want .
I currently participate in several photo walks organized by Instagram, Made in NY, and some photography workshops. There are a few locations that I love to go to, including Union Square Park, Washington Square Park, and Coney Island. Parades are also great places to take pictures. All of these locations provide unique scenarios, interesting crowds, and great ambiance to capture some amazing images."

"My Hisptamatic images are usually shot when I'm on the run through the city, suburbs or the urban streets. The pictures I take are usually based on pure instinct, without too much forethought, I like to see the image quickly and grab it. Sometimes I shoot from the hip without composing, the camera acting as a extension of my arm. When on the street I observe a subject, look where the light works then attempt to capture the scene at its apogee."

"I used to skip school to go wandering the city, lingering in bookshops or exploring strange arcades. Sydney used to be full of old, dusty second hand bookshops that had been there generations. Getting lost amongst its twist and turns, its parks and buildings. Sydney today is a much busier and denser place. But there are still plenty of nooks, strange angles and hidden spaces to enjoy exploring, whilst the ever changing light always brings a new scene to a familiar place.
I have long admired the early mid 20th Century work of photographers like Max Dupain and David Moore. The way they used the harsh Australian sun, turning it into something romantic and reassuring, even if stark and sometimes haunting. Couple this with many years of studying history and my fascination with old photographs generally, I find the hipstamatic a perfect tool to capture the Sydney I imagine. A city fully alive within its own time, but where earlier moments creep in, announced, unannounced or just on the sly, over to the side and behind that shaft of light. Light to me is a transforming influence. It illuminates, it obfuscates, it shifts reality and it allows one to move between the dimensions of fiction and reality, from myth and imagination to those people on the street, the situations playing themselves out in front of us.
I enjoy that sense of connectedness to the past of the city as I wander through it taking my photos and playing with the light. I hope you enjoy my Sydney town of light and shadow."

"With Hipstamatic I have captured the true essence and beauty of my country Panama, it's people, architecture and streets. I made some photos that I could never have done with other apps. Hipstamatic has something magical and cozy, even a little addictive, as it is for me. The ability to capture a moment for eternity with this tool, makes photography a very special and unique experience."

"Austin Snaps is an ongoing photo project I created in an effort to re-connect to photography after an extended hiatus. Most of the shots were taken on the street using BlacKeys SuperGrain and the Wonder Lens. While shooting this series I made my first concerted effort to approach and engage strangers in order to take their portrait. Having this brief collaborative moment with someone I've just met is one of the most positive experiences I've had in photography."

"Most of my photographs are scenes I come upon while at work or exploring on my own. I love the atmosphere that John S and Claunch bring to some of these scenes. Occasionally I'll see a scene I want to photograph, but I'll wait for either the light or a person or animal to wander into the scene. For me, light and atmosphere are usually the main elements in my photographs."
