Combo #136 (Jolene Stewart Beasley)
Lens: Madalena
Film: Robusta
Flash: Berry Pop
"First of all, let me say, 'Rain, rain, go away!' When I left work Friday afternoon, there was a 0% chance of precipitation all weekend. However, about fifteen minutes after arriving at Smothers Park, lightning began flashing across the river. The sudden thunderstorm quickly made its way across the Ohio River and emptied its clouds over the city. Then Saturday evening we went to the Daylily Festival at the local botanical garden. I managed to snap a few photos before another surprise storm chased us back home. It did not rain Sunday but managed to be overcast ALL DAY! I was not a happy camper this weekend.
Although I do not use Berry Pop often, I usually like the outcome; however, I was not too thrilled when using it with Sao Paulo HipstaPak this weekend. Madalena/Robusta is a dark combination, and this flash did not lighten it up any. Every photo was dark and turned out purple with a green center. I felt like asking my husband to hold a 1,000 watt spotlight just to see if it would brighten up my shots. They were especially dark the farther I was from the object. I did discover that when conditions are bright (like a sunny afternoon!) and I am close to my target, I can get a better, brighter photo. After it is all said and done, I would not likely use this combo again."
