"I’m particularly thrilled with the shadow and light play on the subjects. If there is nothing going on with the light, I feel less than inspired. One way or another, shadows always attract my attention. I’m also really attracted to people wearing hats. The “hat man” radiates a sense of timelessness that makes me happy; it’s almost impossible to date those pictures, especially when they’re black-and-white; it helps preserve the main subject in its original form and clearly defined. These pictures were taken during walks around Lisbon, London and the Côte d’Azur, using John S and BlacKeys Supergrain (which I often stop using, yet always come back to…)."
