"The art world is forever growing, but one thing that has remained constant since his first stencil, is Banksy, his sense of time and the Bristolian's ability to stir up controversy. Dismaland, the street artist's most recent work, is more than the theme park that it seems to be on the surface. With jabs at consumerism, politicians, even SeaWorld, Banksy has amassed a collection of works by artists from across the world, to make this potentially the most controversial theme park in existence.
From the intense TSA-like security at the entrance and the inevitably miserable staff wearing home made "Mickey ears", Dismaland definitely has its own aura, despite being a parody of Walt Disney's own park. Interaction is key within the cracked doors of Dismaland. Though the overarching theme of the whole event is "consumerism", it is hard not to feel part of the joke by waking up in the early hours of the morning, only to be conned by the Dismaland booking system, then queueing for 2 hours and 2 miles, to purchase a ticket, only to join another queue for the entrance.
Dismaland Bemusement Park comments on the very thing that drives the success of the exhibition. Our own greed and twisted sense of humour."
