Hipstography Awards 2013, end of submissions

By on December 30, 2013

Tomorrow is the last day of 2013 and the last 5 or 6 articles are ready to be published. As I mentioned in my article about the Hipstography Awards 2013, all photos, combos or series that were published since the launch of the site, will automatically be entered into the Awards. The jury members will make a first selection, which you, the public, will then vote on; this will happen around January 20th. The jury members will have to look through 200 combos, 120 portfolios and 365 photos-of-the-day, in order to select about 10 per category…

In that same article, I made a huge error and I would like to apologize profoundly for this. I made it clear that it was still possible to submit your photos for these Awards, but I had no idea I would be absolutely swamped with over 350 messages… I wonder if it isn’t closer to 400, actually. When I wrote those lines, I was expecting to get about 10 applications but it has surpassed my wildest dream. Unfortunately, I can’t possibly do it… It’s just not humanly possible, nor practical, for that matter.

I steer Hipstography all by myself, and aside from that, I also have a private life (whatever is left of it… ;-) and, above all else, a full-time job! I would love to publish more articles, suggest more interviews, but I don’t have enough time, not to mention resources. What it boils down to is that I am incapable of reading 400 messages in a few days, going through all the albums, replying to the messages and, mainly, publishing everything in 48 hours!

I spent the weekend racking my brain for solutions, but I didn’t find any. I apologize profusely. I will handle all the applications I received during the next few weeks and these will be part of the 2014 Awards. I gracefully ask all the people who wrote in to grant me patience and understanding. Thanking you all in advance.

Mark January 20th on your calendars, as we will be announcing the 10 nominees for each category!
